GRAFIL UF Membrane

product

GRAFIL Ultra Filtration hollow-fiber membranes are designed for long-lasting performance, ensuring reliable water treatment and regulatory compliance. Made with "PolyNorbit," the unique polymer supports 0.02-micron filtration with less feed pressure and no need for an air blower. The highly hydrophilic polymer results in low fouling. The USP of Grafil ultrafiltration membranes is a revolutionary filtration technology that stands out as the world’s first membrane that does not require air during backwashing or any chemical additives. Ideal for removing viruses, bacteria, colloids, suspended solids, and pathogens, this unique feature not only simplifies maintenance procedures but also significantly reduces operational costs for users. Grafil UF modules provide efficient solutions and have over 30 million satisfied users worldwide.

Prime Features of GRAFiL UF

🔬

Pore diameter of 0.02μm effectively removes suspended solids, colloids, bacteria & viruses and provides consistent treated water quality from various feed water sources.

💧

PolyNorbit Chemistry with permanent Hydrophilicity& Higher cleanability

🔁

Dead end / cross flow operation depending upon feed water quality.

🧪

High Resistance to Fouling & Oxidants.

🌿

No aggressive Chemical Enhanced Backwash.

🦠

Environmental friendly due to low CIP requirements and hence low generation of chemical waste.

📦

It reduces the bio-fouling tendency and algal development on the membrane surface and improves the performance.

How Grafil UF Membrane Works

Grafil UF (Ultrafiltration) membranes use a semi-permeable hollow-fibre structure with pore sizes of 0.01–0.1 micron to physically block suspended solids, bacteria, and large viruses while allowing water and dissolved minerals to pass through. Unlike chemical treatment, UF filtration is a purely physical barrier process — no coagulants or flocculants are required to achieve clarity, which makes it a low-chemical, low-maintenance filtration stage.

Grafil UF membranes are built with PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride) fibres, chosen for their mechanical strength, chemical resistance, and long service life under repeated backwash cycles.

UF vs RO: What's the Difference?

UF and RO are often confused but solve different problems. For a detailed comparison of pore size, what each removes, and when to use UF as RO pre-treatment, see our UF vs MBR Membrane guide and our FAQ section below.

Frequently Asked Questions — Grafil UF Membrane

What is the price of Grafil UF Membrane in India?+
Grafil UF Membrane module prices depend on surface area and configuration. A 40 m² module is typically priced between ₹25,000–45,000. Complete UF skids with housing, piping, and controls are quoted per project — contact us for a specification-based quote.
What is the difference between UF and RO membrane?+
UF membranes have pore sizes of 0.01–0.1 micron and remove suspended solids, bacteria, and large viruses but do not remove dissolved salts. RO membranes are far finer and reject dissolved salts too — UF is often used as RO pre-treatment to protect the RO membrane from fouling.
What water sources is Grafil UF Membrane suitable for?+
Grafil UF Membrane is used for drinking water treatment, RO pre-treatment, surface water and borewell water purification, and tertiary treatment of STP/ETP effluent for reuse — anywhere suspended solids, turbidity, and microbiological contamination need to be reduced without chemical dosing.
How is a Grafil UF Membrane cleaned?+
UF membranes are cleaned by periodic backwashing (air + water, every 20–60 minutes) and less frequent chemical enhanced backwash (CEB) or clean-in-place (CIP) cycles using dilute acid/alkali solutions to remove fouling and restore permeate flux.
